Frequently asked questions

Is Whatchya Wanna free?

You can start without an account. A free account or a paid plan raises your daily rolls, and you can buy extra rolls for Eat, Drink, Experience, and Do. Cook can't be topped up. The daily limits are:

  • Eat, Drink, Experience: 10 a day with no account, 20 with a free account, 40 with a paid plan.
  • Do: needs an account. A free account gets 3 rolls to try it, and a paid plan gets 20 a month.
  • Cook: 1 a day with no account, 3 with a free account, 15 with a paid plan.
  • Watch: 60 a day for everyone.

Paid plans also remove ads. See the plans for prices.

Do I need an account?

Only for Do. Everything else works without one. A free account also lets you save places and post and follow.

How does it know where I am?

On Eat, Drink, Experience, and Do, you enter a ZIP code or share your device location. Cook and Watch don't need one.

How many suggestions do I get?

Every page lets you choose 1, 2, or 3 per roll.

Why didn't a place I know come up?

Rolling is random, so a place not coming up doesn't mean it's missing. You can search for it on the missing place page to see if Eat and Drink know about it. If they don't, you can send a note to OpenStreetMap.

Are the opening hours right?

Opening hours aren't reliably available for Eat and Drink, so check before you go.

Is Cook safe if I have an allergy?

Cook lets you leave out ingredients, but it is not a promise that a recipe is safe for an allergy. Check the full recipe before you cook.

What if something is wrong, or an event is missing?

Missing or wrong place details come from OpenStreetMap, so use the missing place page to send them a note. A volunteer there has to pick it up, so it can take a while. If an event or ad submitted through us is wrong, contact support. Know of an event we're missing? Submit it.

What is a sponsor and how do I become one?

Becoming a sponsor puts your business in front of people already trying to decide what to eat, drink, do, or cook. Your ad runs as a banner at the top or bottom of the page, or beside the content on tablets and computers. You can limit it to Eat, Drink, Do, or Cook, or show it everywhere. To start, create a free account or sign in, go to the sponsor page, and enter your business name. Then submit your ad from your sponsor dashboard. If you aren't ready to sign up, you can send a question through the inquiry form on the sponsor page instead. Prices are on the sponsor page.

How long does it take for my ad to go up?

Every ad is reviewed before it goes live, usually within a few days. Nothing is charged until it's approved, and the first 7 days are free.
